Carol Lois Haywood, Pacific marine artist, has been painting fishing boats along the northern California coast for eight years. Along with her growing knowledge of their shapes and varieties, she has learned more about this small-is-beautiful way of life.
The centrality of pattern and value to her art sometimes reminds people of Asian prints. Like them Carol uses extensive areas of flat and blended color. During her twenty years in California, regular exposure to that style has certainly influenced her artistic vision. |
