Welcome to my studio blog! Except this week I went painting plein air at History Park in San Jose. I picked this beautiful little Chinese temple to paint and enjoyed loosening and speeding up my process! Actually I think I hated it at the time, but I claim it was good for me. I don't have to be controlled and calculating all the time while I work! Someone involved in managing the building asked to see it when it was done. I hope she visits this blog to see the final product.

I did about an hour's work today in the studio, straightening edges and reasserting dark values. At least I did that until I knew, to go farther would begin to harm the immediacy of the picture. The weather was perfect, the park is just beautiful. I highly recommend a trip to anyone within reach of San Jose. Thank you, History San Jose, for a fine experience!
